The 3rd World Congress of Taiwan Studies (WCTS) will be held at Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan, on September 6th through 8th, 2018. The general theme of this Congress is Taiwan in the Globalized World, with focus on the The Relevance of Taiwan Studies to the Social Sciences and Humanities.
There are 20 panels to be planned for paper presentations and discussions, including 16 English panels and 4 Chinese panels. We have completed the initial round of panel planning and now would like to invite submission of papers on the following topics: Contributions of Taiwan studies to the making of truly globalized social sciences and humanities Taiwan in the new millennium: great transformation The 3rd regime changes and the future of democracy The making of a diverse ethnic society and new civic nationalism The Taiwanese Millennials and their political inclinations The new faces of art, films, and literature Class, ethnicity and gender: inequality and movements The dynamics and future of Taiwan’s political future vis-a-vis China

Local Accommodation ReimbursementFor those participants with accepted papers, we will offer the local expense for accommodation for up to 4 nights (from Sep. 5th through Sep. 8th) and meals (breakfast and the daily lunch during the conference period, and welcome and fare well dinners).
